“Because our clients’ life insurance policies could be written as superior risks, we wanted insurance companies to design specialized products and charge premiums that reflected our clients’ reduced risk,” says Mark Solomon, a founder and director of M Financial Group and chairman of CMS Companies, an M Financial Group Member Firm.

To encourage life carriers to develop these products, M Financial Group took its concept a step further and formed a reinsurance business, known as M Life Insurance Company, which takes a portion of the risk in each policy written through M Financial Group. Security Life of Denver was the first to work with M Financial Group to design custom products. “At the time, the concept of bypassing the traditional agency system and dealing directly with a group of producers was revolutionary,” says Solomon.
